Kyle Shurmur will be active for the Washington Football Team on Tuesday night.

The former Vanderbilt quarterback was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of Washington’s Tuesday game against Philadelphia.

After 4 seasons at Vanderbilt (2015-18), Shurmur landed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He bounced between the practice squad and active roster before the Chiefs released him on April 29, 2020. Shurmur spent the 2020 season on the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad. He was waived by Cincinnati on Aug. 31, 2021 and signed to Washington’s practice squad in September.

Shurmur has not yet recorded any NFL regular-season statistics. Washington is turning to Garrett Gilbert as its starting quarterback for Tuesday due to COVID issues.

Tuesday’s game is set for 7 p.m. ET.
