Hugh Freeze and Liberty are in Fayetteville taking on Arkansas. At halftime, the No. 23 Flames have a 21-3 lead over the Razorbacks.

Freeze inked a contract extension on Oct. 28 that will keep him in Lynchburg through 2030. The former Ole Miss head coach looks primed to improve to 8-1 in 2022 with the Flames and 34-12 overall through nearly 4 seasons.

Despite the investment Liberty University has made toward looking to keep Freeze around, many feel it’s not a matter of if, but when he will make a return to a Power 5 sideline, and to the SEC at that. A win against Arkansas would certainly do more to fuel that fire.

Liberty, who move from the independent ranks to Conference USA in 2023, has UConn, Virginia Tech, and New Mexico State remaining on its schedule. An 11-win season certainly isn’t out of the question.
