The fate of Ohio State’s football season remains up in the air at the moment, but for the time being, the Buckeyes have now lost two preseason All-Americans in recent days to opt-outs.

Late last week, All-American offensive lineman Wyatt Davis announced his decision to opt-out for the coming season in order to prepare for the 2021 NFL Draft, and now Buckeye defensive back Shaun Wade has made the same decision.

The defensive back announced his decision on Monday morning.

Wade played in every game for Ohio State last season, registering 26 tackles, four tackles-for-loss, one interception, two forced fumbles and eight pass breakups.

Wade was also a team captain for eight games last season for Ohio State. Heading into this season, the AP named Wade as a first-team preseason All-American by the Associated Press.

If you’ve seen Wade’s name in the news this offseason, his father Randy Wade made headlines after declaring he planned to travel to Big Ten headquarters and demand answers from the conference regarding why the league decided against playing football this fall.

Following several weeks of uncertainty regarding the fate of the Big Ten and Ohio State’s fall season, the Wade family has now shifted its focus toward the 2021 NFL Draft.
