If A&M is consulted and we land in the same place (IE Texas is admitted,) what harm was done? If A&M isn't consulted, you have an understandably aggrieved member. You would be OK if Alabama wasn't consulted before potential discussions about bringing in UAB? It has nothing to do with whether or not the program is historically successful. You would want to know if something was happening in your backyard. And before we talk about the sensitivity of discussions, I have negotiated multiple company acquisitions and divestitures so I get that more than most. But if my group was acquiring a company, at least the management teams of the other operating companies would be in the loop.
Very disappointed in the office in Birmingham is there was no consultation with A&M. We are supposed to be better than that. If UGA was done that way with Tech, or SCar with Clemson, or UF with FSU, people would have pitchforks. A&M is a member institution who came in with excitement and by all accounts has been a great member. We have more integrity than this. My hope is that Sankey explains things in a way that show this process was somewhat above board. If not, the integrity of the league office has been shattered. This is more than a football conversation. You have to trust your member organizations. I care little for Florida as a program but deeply respect them as a member. Disagree here. Sankey is stating that if the SEC as a whole wants a rule changed, they can vote to change it. He is asking why he becomes a litigator in an issue the SEC member institutions can (if they care to) change. That is a very well reasoned response and not reactionary or malleable like the NCAA process has been.

Pretty certain his point was describing UGA's new starters needing time to develop in their roles, and that Georgia will be much better at the back half of the year due to that development. That is not true of all teams in college football irrespective of teams traditionally getting better as the year goes on. Clearly that Bama education is working out.
