When the Rams hired Sean McVay, the former Washington offensive coordinator became the youngest coach in modern NFL history at the age of 30. The move may have been questioned by some at the time but McVay has already proven what he’s capable of accomplishing as a head coach at the game’s highest level of competition.

In his first season on the job in Los Angeles, McVay turned the team from a 4-12 program to an 11-5 team, good for a first-place finish in the NFC West. The Rams lost in the Wild Card Round of the NFL Playoffs last season but are projected to be one of the league’s Super Bowl contenders heading into the 2018 NFL season.

What is it that makes McVay so successful at such a young age? The way his mind works appears to be a key as the young head coach has what appears to be a photographic memory when it comes to playcalling.
