The Chicago Bears fell to the Buffalo Bills 41-15 during an NFL preseason football game at Soldier Field on Saturday afternoon. And one of the main talking points for the Bears surrounds the situation at quarterback, where rookie Justin Fields and veteran Andy Dalton are battling for the top of the depth chart.

Dalton started on Saturday and played the first half as he was 11-of-17 for 146 yards and a touchdown while getting sacked twice, with his touchdown coming with Buffalo already up 28-0. Fields played the second half and was 9-of-19 for 80 yards, adding 46 yards on 4 carries.

Bears fans made it clear who they wanted to see, though, chanting the name of Fields while Dalton was playing. That didn’t quite sit well with the 11th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

“Andy is out there on the field right now, so I really think it’s kind of disrespectful to Andy, them cheering my name like that,” Fields said. “hey have to trust in coach to make sure he’s making the right decisions and cheer Andy on. That’s not helping Andy play better, them cheering my name. That’s not doing that. So I would say my advice to them would be [to] just cheer for who’s out there playing on the field.”

The Bears have one final preseason game on their schedule, and that’s at the Tennessee Titans on Saturday night.
