Is this year’s Sugar Bowl between Alabama and Clemson, the teams that have played in the last two title games, the de facto national championship?

That’s what oddsmakers seem to think, as Vegas heavily favors Alabama to win it all in the eight possible title-game outcomes.

As you can see below, the odds shared by Bovada have Alabama favored over the winner of the Georgia-Oklahoma semifinal and would also have Clemson favored over both of those teams:

  • Alabama Wins vs. Georgia                     7/2
  • Alabama Wins vs. Oklahoma                  4/1
  • Clemson Wins vs. Georgia                     4/1
  • Clemson Wins vs. Oklahoma                  6/1
  • Georgia Wins vs. Alabama                     25/4
  • Georgia Wins vs. Clemson                     13/2
  • Oklahoma Wins vs. Alabama                  6/1
  • Oklahoma Wins vs. Clemson                  7/1

After what was supposed to be a “down year” for the SEC, it’s interesting to note that the oddsmakers have Alabama over Georgia as the most likely title game outcome.

Of course, this is all just conjecture at this point, as Alabama and Georgia will have to take care of business on New Year’s Day.
