Caleb Williams is the winner of the Heisman Trophy for the 2022 season. The USC quarterback beat out fellow finalists Georgia QB Stetson Bennett, Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud and TCU QB Max Duggan.

Williams was the betting favorite entering Saturday’s ceremony. He had a banner 2022 season, transferring from Oklahoma to USC, following his former coach, Lincoln Riley.

The sophomore quarterback was one of college football’s top passers in 2022. His 37 touchdown passes are tied with Houston’s Clayton Tune for No. 1 in the nation. Williams is No. 4 in passing yards with 4,075. A dual-threat, Williams rushed for 372 yards, the most by a USC quarterback in a single season.

Williams shined throwing under pressure throughout the season:

Williams’ “Heisman moment” was his record-breaking performance in the USC-UCLA game played in the Rose Bowl. Throwing for 470 yards and 2 TDs as well as rushing for 33 yards and a score, Williams lifted the Trojans to a 48-45 win over their crosstown rival. Williams’ 503 yards set a USC single-game record. Though USC lost the PAc-12 Championship Game to Utah, Williams earned praise for playing through a hamstring injury in his attempt to carry the Trojans to victory.

Williams led the Trojans to an 11-2 mark and a New Year’s Six bowl berth a season after they went 4-8. USC will face Tulane in the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 2.
