Clemson lands commitment from top-ranked 2020 player, knocks Alabama out of No. 1 spot
The Clemson Tigers are building some momentum on the recruiting trails, and on Tuesday, they got a huge boost to their 2020 class.
That’s because 5-star DT Bryan Bresee out of Maryland committed to the program, and he’s the No. 1 overall player in the 247Sports composite rankings.
As you can see below, he announced his decision by touting all the talented defensive linemen who have gone through Clemson over the past few years:

This is important because it means Alabama no longer has the nation’s top-rated recruiting class. In the new 247Sports rankings following Bresee’s commitment, Clemson is No. 1 and the Tide are No. 2.
Alabama has 15 commitments to Clemson’s 12, but expect this to be a back-and-forth battle over the next several months.
I don’t recall Clemson ever being in contention for the #1 spot. I guess winning that second NC has serious benefits. They should be a power for as long as Dabo is there.
This might be a very big class for them. Possibly the best class ever, especially if they can land Uiagalelei and Bowman.
Wow – I honestly thought UGA was the leading contender given his friendship with some of the players and his frequent visits with the entire family in tow.
Clemson has been in the last four playoffs since – look for that trend to continue.
Crap. He was a primary target for a long time.
Still a long way to go before anything is actually signed…
Clemson being #1 in anything is unfortunate.
Easy on the ACC, at least they have one good team.
I think he be might he referring to the geographical proximity of Clemson & Georgia – & the fact that both programs are drawing from the same well for talent – rather than a dig at the ACC. Though we’ve obviously done pretty well these last few years, Clemson outrecruiting Georgia is not something we’re used to seeing.
