College football fans, media react to explosive report of USC, UCLA potentially leaving Pac-12 for Big Ten
The college football world has undergone some major realignment in the past decade, and that apparently isn’t going to slow down any time soon.
According to a report from Jon Wilner of Pac-12 Hotline on Thursday, USC and UCLA are in discussions with the Big Ten about joining the conference, potentially as soon as 2024.
As you might expect, college football fans and media members immediately flocked to social media to share their reactions to the news.
Here are some of the responses to the potential blockbuster realignment news on Twitter:
This is the last helicopter out of Saigon syndrome. B10 and SEC will be making $80 million per school, at least $30 million more than the next conference. I'd check the leanings of Clemson, Florida State and Miami right now.

Word was Big Ten might strike a TV/streaming deal over Memorial Day. That came and went …
Timing is everything. Big Ten set to rake cash should USC and UCLA join in 2024. https://t.co/csX3TB9f92

If this happens, it just accelerates the Big Ten and SEC leaving everyone else in the dust, and a prelude to the Power 5 becoming something much more compact.

Of course, there are some obstacles to the potential move by USC and UCLA, including UCLA being part of the California university system, so we’ll see what happens over the next few months.
Still, this is a potentially monumental day in the future of college football.
