It looks like college football fans are not too thrilled about the unusual location picked by ESPN’s College GameDay.

GameDay unveiled the broadcast location for Week 4 Thursday, and it came as a bit of a shock to most people. The popular Saturday morning show announced it will be broadcasting live from Times Square in New York City on Sept. 23.

The show usually broadcasts from a college campus or on-location of a top matchup, but next weekend will be a different experience. Maybe the show felt the matchups in Week 4 are lackluster. The MSU-UGA game in Athens next weekend could turn out to be a big one and will likely be the biggest SEC game next weekend.

The location is certainly unique, and so far the fan reaction on Twitter has been negative to GameDay’s announcement:

Fans may not be thrilled about the setting, but host Kirk Herbstreit believes Times Square has the potential to be one of the best locations ever for the show.

It will certainly be a unique experience. Hopefully it exceeds expectations.
