Every year, the SEC faces criticism for certain teams having easy non-conference schedules.

Especially as more power conferences are switching to nine-game conference schedules, SEC teams get ripped if they don’t schedule a powerful non-conference foe.

On Sunday, ESPN’s Chris Low ranked the 10 easiest non-conference schedules in the country, and three SEC squads made the cut. Arkansas leads the way at No. 5, followed by Georgia and Alabama at the bottom of the list:

  • No. 5 — Arkansas (vs. Eastern Illinois, at Colorado State, vs. North Texas, vs. Tulsa)
  • No. 9 — Georgia (vs. Austin Peay, vs. Middle Tennessee, vs. UMass, vs. Georgia Tech)
  • No. 10 — Alabama (vs. Louisville, vs. Arkansas State, vs. Louisiana, vs. The Citadel)

Arkansas isn’t facing a non-SEC Power 5 team in Chad Morris’s first year. Alabama and Georgia both face one, but neither is exactly a powerhouse ACC program.

There are no guarantees in college football, but the Bulldogs, Crimson Tide and Razorbacks certainly have an easier non-conference path than most this fall.
