When it comes to playing for pride, Florida State had plenty to play for on Saturday. First-year coach Willie Taggart’s squad entered the game 4-6, fighting to avoid its first losing season since 1976 and keep a streak of 36 consecutive bowl games alive. Despite that, not many Seminoles fans made it out to Doak Campbell Stadium to see FSU take on Boston College (No. 20 CFP/No. 22 AP).

FSU’s announced attendance of 57,274 made for the smallest home crowd since 1988. Attendance has been down for the Noles in the 2018 season. In October, many pointed to Hurricane Michael hitting the Florida panhandle affecting the turnout at Doak for home games. A month later, however, it seems unlikely that the storm would be the main reason for attendance under the 58,000 mark.

Those who did attend were certainly glad they did. FSU came from behind to upset Boston College 22-21. A long touchdown pass with under two minutes remaining gave FSU the win to get to 5-6 and keep the above-referenced streaks alive.

Attendance shouldn’t be a problem next Saturday as arch-rival Florida (No. 13 CFP/No. 15 AP) travels to Tallahassee. The Seminoles are looking to make it six in a row over the Gators. Dan Mullen’s squad would love to snap all the streaks in play and likely lock up a spot in a New Year’s Six bowl with a win at Tallahassee. The game is set for noon ET on ABC.
