As everyone who hasn’t been living under a rock knows by now, the Ohio State Buckeyes are expected to soon reveal a punishment for coach Urban Meyer.

The school is investigating what Meyer knew about former WR coach Zach Smith’s 2013 and 2015 arrests, and he has been placed on administrative leave.

As you can hear in the ESPNU Radio on SiriusXM clip below, former Alabama QB and current SEC Network analyst Greg McElroy thinks Ohio State has handled the situation perfectly:

“I’ve come to a couple of conclusions about this,” McElroy said. “One, Zach Smith is a despicable human being who shouldn’t have been around college-aged students. … That doesn’t necessarily mean Urban Meyer should be let go. Urban Meyer should have fired him a few years ago — should have fired him after 2013, when he had a domestic-violence arrest in 2009 and the OVI charge happened in 2013. … He should have fired him. But is that a fireable offense on Urban? No, I don’t think it is. … Ohio State’s done this the right way. I just hope Urban Meyer’s a little remorseful for keeping someone like Zach Smith around the program.”

We should find out on Wednesday what Meyer’s punishment is. McElroy thinks Meyer should keep his job, and we’ll end up seeing if the Ohio State administrators agree.
