Our Week 1 stat predictor turned out some hits (Jordan Ta’amu 336 passing yards, Emanuel Hall 171 receiving yards), but also some misses (off on Darius Slayton’s receiving yards by, oh, 109 yards).

Time to make our Week 2 predictions on stats leaders, looking for a few more winners.

Most Passing Yards

1. Jordan Ta’amu, Ole Miss (vs. Southern Illinois)

Prediction: 350 yards
Why? Ta’amu showed SEC fans what they can expect in the Rebels’ season-opening win over Texas Tech last week, throwing for 336 yards. He now gets to face an FCS opponent in Southern Illinois that was picked to finish eighth in the 10-team Missouri Valley Conference.

2. Drew Lock, Missouri (vs. Wyoming)

Prediction: 340 yards
Why? Last season, Lock averaged 353 yards per game against nonconference opponents. Last week, he threw for 289 yards in a little more than a half of action against UT Martin. Wyoming should present a tougher challenge for the Tigers this week, but not so tough that Lock won’t get his first 300-yard game of the season.

3. Jarrett Stidham, Auburn (vs. Alabama State)

Prediction: 300 yards
Why? No offense to Alabama State fans, but the Hornets should provide a welcome relief for the Tigers after dealing with one of the elite teams in the Pac-12 in Washington. Last year against FCS opponent Mercer, Stidham passed for a season-high 364 yards. Another 300-yard game should be coming.

Most Passing Touchdowns

1. Drew Lock, Missouri (vs. Wyoming)

Prediction: 4
Why? Lock threw at least five TDs in a game four times last season. Three of the four times, the opponent was outside the SEC. Lock needed only slightly more than a half of action to throw for four TDs last week, and he figures to spend a little more time on the field this week.

2. Jordan Ta’amu, Ole Miss (vs. Southern Illinois)

Prediction: 4
Why? Ta’amu was impressive in Week 1 against Texas Tech, and he has the best group of receivers in the SEC, if not the nation. Expect the four TD passes to come before halftime.

3. Kyle Shurmur, Vanderbilt (vs. Nevada)

Prediction: 3
Why? Vanderbilt didn’t need much from Shurmur in Week 1 vs. Middle Tennessee, and he still had two TD passes. Last season in four nonconference games, Shurmur had 10 TD passes and 0 interceptions. I’m playing a hunch that he will get to three TD passes Saturday.

Most Rushing Yards

1. Benny Snell, Kentucky (at Florida)

Prediction: 135 yards
Why? Some people are predicting that THIS will be the year the Wildcats finally end their losing streak to the Gators. If that is to happen, Snell will need to be a major factor. Not saying the Wildcats are going to snap this 31-game streak, but I think Snell will be solid.

2. Nick Brossette, LSU (vs. Southeastern Louisiana)

Credit: Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Prediction: 130 yards
Why? Brossette was impressive in Week 1 vs. Miami, rushing for 125 yards. Now, the Tigers face a Southeastern Louisiana team that gave up 208 yards on the ground to UL Monroe last week. Is there any reason not to expect even more yards for Brossette in Week 2?

3. Kam Martin, Auburn (vs. Alabama State)

Prediction: 120 yards
Why? Martin got the majority of the carries for the Tigers in Week 1 vs. Washington, and despite averaging just 3.6 yards a carry he still managed 80 yards on the ground. Like Stidham, Martin may get over the century mark by halftime.

Most Rushing Touchdowns

1. Nick Brossette, LSU (vs. Southeastern Louisiana)

Prediction: 3
Why? Brossette is poised to become the next great running back for LSU, and piling up the stats against an FCS opponent is a good way to get your name out there to the public. A three-TD game is not too much of a reach for Brossette this weekend.

2. Nick Fitzgerald, Mississippi State (at Kansas State)

Prediction: 3
Why? After missing the Bulldogs’ season opener last week, Fitzgerald will be out to dominate in his season debut. It won’t be easy, traveling to Manhattan, Kansas, to take on a Wildcats team that allowed just 77 yards on the ground against South Dakota. But Fitzgerald will still get in the end zone three times Saturday.

3. Tim Jordan, Tennessee (vs. East Tennessee State)

Prediction: 2
Why? Lost in the Vols’ 40-14 loss to West Virginia last weekend was the play of Jordan, who ran for 118 yards and a touchdown. I’m looking for Jordan to break out in the Vols’ home opener with a multi-touchdown game.

Most Receiving Yards

1. A.J. Brown, Ole Miss (vs. Southern Illinois)

Prediction: 150 yards
Why? Brown had a decent game against Texas Tech last week, catching 7 passes for 93 yards and a TD. But this weekend could be the first of many dominating games for the junior wide receiver. Last season against nonconference opponents, Brown averaged 144 receiving yards a game. I’m expecting at least that much Saturday.

2. Emanuel Hall, Missouri (vs. Wyoming)

Prediction: 130 yards
Why? After producing 171 receiving yards on just 4 catches last week, Hall has established himself as one of the most explosive players in the SEC. Dating back to last season, Hall is averaging 27.6 yards a catch. Look for Hall to continue his great play against Wyoming.

3. Marquez Callaway, Tennessee (vs. East Tennessee State)

Prediction: 110 yards
Why? Callaway had a good game against West Virginia last week (63 yards on 6 catches). With the Vols taking on an FCS opponent this weekend, the setting is perfect for a number of players to pad their stats. That includes Callaway, who will produce just the second 100-yard receiving game of his career.

Most Receiving Touchdowns

1. A.J. Brown, Ole Miss (vs. Southern Illinois)

Credit: Thomas B. Shea-USA TODAY Sports

Prediction: 2
Why? Brown needs to remind fans why he has been hyped as the best receiver in the SEC. This is the game to do just that. Brown had four multi-TD games last season, and Saturday he will get his first such game of this season.

2. Ryan Davis, Auburn (vs. Alabama State)

Prediction: 2
Why? Davis had a decent game last weekend, with 7 catches for 52 yards. But he did not have a touchdown, and despite an SEC-best 84 catches last season, Davis had only 5 TD receptions. This will be the week Davis has his first career multi-TD game.

3. D.K. Metcalf, Ole Miss (vs. Southern Illinois)

Prediction: 2
Why? Metcalf was solid against Texas Tech last week, with 81 yards on just 4 catches and a TD. With this weekend being the home opener for the Rebels, I’m looking for Metcalf to double his TD total at home from last season (1).
