Report: Alabama has strong interest in current Tennessee assistant
A Tennessee assistant could be switching sides for the Third Saturday in October.
UT insider John Brice shared Friday that Alabama has strong interest in Volunteers safety coach and special teams coordinator Charles Kelly. While Kelly has not worked under Saban before, he would presumably fit in on the Crimson Tide staff. The past six seasons, he has been on the staff of former Saban assistants Jimbo Fisher (2013-17) and Jeremy Pruitt (2018).
Kelly’s departure from Tennessee – whether to Alabama or elsewhere – appears imminent, as he was reportedly pulled off the recruiting trail by Pruitt.
Am told @AlabamaFTBL is close to adding @Vol_Football Special Teams Coord/Safeties coach Charles Kelly. “Bama has strong interest” and “offer is there” per multi sources. W/ #Vols slightly overstaffed after adding Tee Martin, David Johnson has been off the recruiting trail today
