The Ohio State Buckeyes recently fired WR coach Zach Smith amid ugly allegations stemming from a domestic-violence incident back in 2015.

The case has quickly turned bizarre, as Texas coach Tom Herman has now been reported to be the tipster for reporter Brett McMurphy, who broke the original news.

Smith had yet to meet with Ohio State investigators, but that will change next week. And, in what may be the strangest twist this case has taken yet, Smith is reportedly going to ask for his job back (via The Columbus Dispatch):

Smith’s attorney, Bradley Koffel, told The Dispatch that Smith will answer all questions he is asked. He also indicated that Smith will request to get his job back.

It seems highly unlikely that Ohio State will reinstate Smith, but nothing is off the table in this bizarre case.

Ohio State reportedly plans to have this investigation wrapped up within two weeks, but with all the new information that continues to come out, that won’t be easy.
