College sports are the best. Especially when you’re on campus.

I loved seeing Bruce Pearl in the Auburn student section last week hyping up fans before the Georgia game. And, this week, Eric Musselman is buying 1,000 Sonic breakfast burritos for students who show up to the Arkansas game against Auburn early.

It’s awesome to see the men’s basketball coaches showing their support for the football teams. And, when their seasons are over, the football coaches will be counted on to support other squads on campus. Lane Kiffin is really good at that at Ole Miss.

That’s what makes the college experience so great. I love stories like that!

Now, let’s dive into your questions for this week’s Mailbag:

Michael:

What’s your take on the JT Daniels vs. Stetson Bennett IV debate at Georgia?

JT Daniels is the starter. Plain and simple.

If he’s healthy, which is obviously a big if, he provides the offense with more explosiveness than Bennett. That’s not a slight to Bennett, who has done an incredible job with the opportunities he’s been given.

But, Daniels has an NFL arm. He can make any throw on the field, whereas I think the Bulldogs are being a bit more conservative with their play-calling with Bennett. The Georgia defense is elite, so the offense doesn’t have to do much, but if the Dawgs find themselves trailing late in a must-win game, I’d trust Daniels to march the ball down the field more than Bennett.

Of course, now the big question is whether or not Daniels can be counted on to stay healthy. It’s the biggest question facing the Dawgs moving forward.

@SChinni12:

Which of the 13 remaining unbeaten teams is most surprising to you?

I’ve had to eat plenty of crow regarding Kentucky this year, so what’s a little more? I thought the Wildcats were going to take a step back this year. I didn’t think the defense would be this good after losing a couple of key players, including first-round draft pick Jamin Davis.

I also didn’t think Liam Coen, Will Levis and Wan’Dale Robinson would jell so quickly. That has truly been impressive to watch.

I know they face their toughest test of the year at No. 1 Georgia this weekend, but I’m learning never to count out the Wildcats (finally)!

I’m also riding with Wake Forest. I just love the “Demon Deacons” as a nickname, so I always like when they do well. They’re off this week, so they have plenty of time to prepare for their Oct. 23 game at Army. There’s a legit chance Wake could end up in the ACC title game! Didn’t see that coming before the season.

Joe:

Which SEC transfer men’s basketball player do you think will make the biggest impact this year?

There are so many transfers these days, it seems every team has an impact guy I could mention! But, there are a few I’m overly excited about.

Off the top of my head, Auburn’s Walker Kessler, Tennessee’s Justin Powell and Florida’s Myreon Jones and Brandon McKissic are guys I think can make big-time impacts.

But, the No. 1 guy I think has a chance to really impact the SEC title race is Kentucky’s Kellan Grady. The Davidson transfer brings a 3-point shooting legitimacy Kentucky didn’t have last year.

Having him on the court with Dontaie Allen and Davion Mintz should make this one of John Calipari’s best-ever 3-point shooting teams. If the Wildcats can show competence behind the arc, they’ll be in the mix to win the league title.

I also can’t wait to see Chris Lykes at Arkansas. Keep an eye on LSU’s Adam Miller and Xavier Pinson, too.

@Dobbe8:

Curly fries or regular fries?

Whew, that’s a tough question. Curly fries are good. And, I feel like they’re more consistently good. But, the best regular fries are better than the best curly fries.

On the other hand, the worst curly fries are better than the worst regular fries. What I’m saying is there’s a big spectrum among regular fries.

But, McDonalds fries, Chick-fil-A’s waffle fries and Steak n Shake’s fries are all elite. Give me those over curly fries any day of the week.

It’s tough to mess up fries too badly, but In-N-Out has some truly awful fries. It’s like eating cardboard.
