In the wake of the cancellation of the Las Vegas Bowl on Wednesday due to the coronavirus pandemic, the SEC has been able to quickly find a replacement.

ESPN, who owns the Las Vegas Bowl through its ESPN Events unit, announced on Thursday that it has agreed to terms with the SEC for one of its teams to face a Pac-12 program in its Lockheed-Martin Armed Forces Bowl, set to be played on the campus of TCU on Dec. 31.

The Armed Forces Bowl, which began as the Fort Worth Bowl in 2003, was originally set to feature a team from The American and Big 12 conferences but will instead be contested against the SEC and Pac-12 this season.

The Las Vegas Bowl was played at Sam Boyd Stadium on the UNLV campus since 1992 and was to debut at the new Allegiant Stadium this year before its cancellation. It has a permanent tie in with the Pac-12, with the SEC and Big Ten set to alternate as the opponent between even and odd years, respectively, in a contract that was to begin in 2020.
