I was tempted to put Alabama in the College Football Playoff.

Nick Saban said that Saturday’s 42-28 win over LSU was the Tide’s most complete win of the season, and it’s hard to disagree. Jalen Milroe looked fantastic in his duel against Jayden Daniels, rushing for over 150 yards with 4 touchdowns.

Alabama’s defense answered the call when needed, too. Holding LSU to just 28 points is impressive, especially considering the Tigers led the country in scoring offense at 47 points per game entering Saturday’s showdown.

All that is great and Alabama is certainly 1 of 8 or so teams that can crack the Playoff field with just 3 regular season games to go. But Georgia is still Georgia and the SEC likely will only get 1 spot this year. The Bulldogs showed what they’re made of Saturday in Athens.

Georgia joined Alabama in scoring its best win of the season, downing No. 12 Mizzou 30-21. The CFP committee says otherwise, but the Bulldogs are not moving from No. 1 here until they lose a football game.

If Alabama and Georgia had great weeks, Mississippi State had an awful one.

I thought the Bulldogs would have a better chance, but Zach Arnett’s squad struggled Saturday at home against Kentucky, which officially cracked bowl eligibility with a 24-3 win.

The Bulldogs have jumped in and out of the projections this year, but I can’t envision them beating Texas A&M at Kyle Field or Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl. There’s a chance with their APR standings the Bulldogs can crack a bowl at 5-7, though.

Florida is in trouble once again. The Gators fell to Arkansas 39-36 in OT Saturday and face a brutal final stretch at LSU, at Mizzou and vs. No. 4 Florida State. Like MSU, they’re out of the projections for now.

Oklahoma and Air Force losing in Week 10 shook some things up in the NY6 projections. I didn’t have the Sooners in the NY6 games after their loss to Kansas last week, but Week 10’s loss to OK State affirms it: The Sooners are likely to finish with more than 3 losses this year.

Ole Miss is not. The Rebels’ path seems to point to a loss to Georgia in Week 11 and a 10-2 finish to the season with wins over LSU, Tulane and Texas A&M.

There’s some shakeup in the projected opponents this weekend with 6 teams projected to face new opponents.

Until next week, college football.
