It was a wild coaching carousel season in the SEC, with five teams hiring new coaches and Ole Miss removing the interim tag from Matt Luke’s title.

However, not all new hires are created equal, and Sports Illustrated writer Joan Niesen graded each of college football’s new head coaches.

She used a five-point system, weighing things like instant impact, stylistic fit and splash quotient. Here’s what she thought of each of the new SEC coaches:

  • Dan Mullen, Florida — 3.8
  • Joe Moorhead, Mississippi State — 3.8
  • Chad Morris, Arkansas — 3.6
  • Matt Luke, Ole Miss — 3.6
  • Jeremy Pruitt, Tennessee — 3.2
  • Jimbo Fisher, Texas A&M — 2.4

It’s interesting to see Jimbo Fisher so far down on the list, but Niesen clearly wasn’t a big fan of Texas A&M’s decision to give the former Florida State coach a massive 10-year, $75 million contract.
