The BCS era has come to an end now that we have the College Football Playoff in action, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t some great moments from the bygone era.

On Friday, Sports Illustrated ranked the 10 best performances of the BCS era, and it’s no surprise that the SEC was well-represented on the list.

Alabama’s shutout of LSU, Auburn DT Nick Fairley’s dominance against Oregon, huge games by Alabama RB Eddie Lacy and Auburn RB Tre Mason and an MVP performance by Tennessee WR Peerless Price in the first-ever BCS title game all made the cut, as you can see below:

  • No. 9 — Alabama defense, 2012
  • No. 8 — Auburn DT Nick Fairley, 2011
  • No. 7 — Alabama RB Eddie Lacy, 2013
  • No. 5 — Tennessee WR Peerless Price, 1999
  • No. 4 — Auburn RB Tre Mason, 2014
