It’s no secret that Texas coach Charlie Strong is only barely hanging on to his job with the Longhorns.

But, on College GameDay, analyst Kirk Herbstreit said Strong was set up to fail the moment he was hired.

In the above video, Herbstreit blasts Texas and said he’d want to get fired if he was in Strong’s position:

“If you’re Charlie Strong, you have to have peace of mind because if they ask you to leave, you’re going to get paid well and you’re going to get released,” he said. “You’re going to get released from the cesspool of being in Austin, Texas, and the attitude that comes with being the head coach of Texas.”

Herbstreit cites vocal boosters and school administrators as big factors in the team’s struggles to turn the program around.

Texas is currently 2-2 and plays the No. 20 Oklahoma Sooners this afternoon in Dallas.
