Vanderbilt extends lead over Florida on muffed punt recovery for TD
After winning its first SEC game since 2019, Vanderbilt is looking to make it a winning streak.
The Commodores are giving Florida all it can handle and more early in Nashville. Vandy went up 14-6 by recovering a muffed punt for a touchdown.
Cornerback Jason Marshall was unable to return a punt deep in Florida territory. VU longsnapper Wesley Schelling came up with the ball in the end zone. The extra point was good, putting Vanderbilt up 14-6.

Marshall is not Florida’s usual punt returner. Wide receivers Xzavier Henderson and Ricky Pearsall are both dealing with injuries on Saturday.
The Gators have had a sloppy first half, and the Commodores are taking advantage. Vanderbilt benefitted from a pair of UF penalties that wiped out third-down stops on its offensive scoring drive.
It’s 14-6 Vandy at the half. The game is airing on the SEC Network.
