The Vanderbilt Commodores are off to a slow start in the 2019 recruiting race, but perhaps their luck is beginning to change.

On Monday night, they dipped into Memphis and landed their third commitment of the 2019 cycle.

As you can see below, 3-star DE Christian James announced he was heading to Vanderbilt starting next fall:

According to the 247Sports composite, James is the No. 88 weak-side defensive end in the class of 2019 and the No. 46 overall recruit from the state of Tennessee.

James is the third player in Vanderbilt’s 2019 class. Prior to his commitment, that class ranked No. 14 in the SEC and No. 90 nationally, per 247Sports.
