Texas A&M’s quarterback competition came to an end on Friday, when head coach Kevin Sumlin named Kyler Murray the Aggies’ starting quarterback.

Murray will make his first start at quarterback on Saturday, when Texas A&M hosts South Carolina at noon. The game will be shown on the SEC Network.

Murray, a true freshman, battled sophomore Kyle Allen, the Aggies’ previous starter, and junior Jake Hubenak for the starting job this week. All three have gotten playing time this year.

After losing the battle to start for the Aggies, both Allen and Hubenak expressed their thoughts on Twitter. Judging by their tweets, both of them intend to keep battling Murray for the starting job.

Allen told his fans and followers not to count him out.

Hubenak used Tom Brady as an inspiration as he keeps working to earn the starting job.

Murray has a Twitter account, but has not posted anything since Sept. 24.
