If you missed the news on Monday, the Supreme Court struck down a 1992 law that outlawed legalized sports gambling for the vast majority of the United States. As a result of the ruling, individual states will not immediately be permitted to have sports betting but will now be able to decide for themselves if sports gambling will become legal on a state-by-state basis.

New Jersey and West Virginia already have bills ready to go in order to make legalized sports betting in those a reality in the coming weeks and months. However, according to the center for gaming research at the University of Nevada, SEC states appear poised to ease themselves into potential legalized gambling.

In a graphic shared by AP Interactive, Mississippi is listed as the only state in the SEC footprint that is currently expected to legalize gambling within two years. Louisiana, Kentucky and North Carolina are all listed as states that could legalize sports gambling within five years.
