For the past few seasons, the SEC has had some of college football’s most talked about running backs like Derrick Henry, Leonard Fournette, Nick Chubb and Sony Michel. The 2018 crop of running backs don’t have quite the same national name recognition.

Sporting News recently shared its top 25 running backs for the 2018. The SEC is represented by four running backs, but the highest-rated ball-carrier from the conference checks in at No. 8. In the opinion of Zac Al-Khateeb, Lane Kiffin has a better running back at FAU in Devin Singletary (No. 5) than any of the 14 SEC teams.

Here are the SEC running backs who made the list:

  • No. 8 – Damien Harris, Alabama
  • No. 13 – Benny Snell Jr., Kentucky
  • No. 15 – D’Andre Swift, Georgia
  • No. 24 – Najee Harris, Alabama

Snell and Damien Harris each have the opportunity to join a very exclusive club in 2018 as three-time 1,000-yard rushers alongside SEC greats such as Chubb and former Arkansas running back Darren McFadden. As indicated by the list, Damien Harris may find his potential production impacted by the development of Najee Harris, a highly sought-after former 5-star prospect in the 2017 class.

For those interested, the No. 1 overall spot went to Stanford’s Bryce Love. The full 25 can be found here.

Do you feel any SEC running backs were snubbed from the list?
