Recently, West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen did what not many Power 5 coaches do — left a Power 5 job to take a Group of 5 job.

With Holgorsen leaving for Houston, though, the Mountaineers needed a new coach, and they found one in Troy coach Neal Brown.

Per Pete Thamel of Yahoo! Sports, Brown is in the process of finalizing a deal to become the next head coach of the Mountaineers on Friday morning:

Brown didn’t land a head coaching job during the first round of the coaching carousel, but he was a hot name on the market after what he’s done with the Trojans the past couple of years.

This seems to be a good regional fit for him, too, so we’ll see what he can accomplish as Holgorsen’s replacement.
