Last month, Florida State coach Willie Taggart said starting quarterback Deondre Francois was “weighing his options” regarding what he wanted to do next season.

The rising senior apparently decided that remaining in Tallahassee was best for him.

According to a report from 247Sports.com’s Seminoles website, Francois has stuck with the team and is enrolled in spring semester classes. Taggart said Dec. 19 that Francois was mulling his future, whether that meant staying put, transferring or declaring the NFL draft.

His return will be a boost for Florida State, which went 5-7 in 2018 and fielded the No. 113 scoring offense nationally in Taggart’s first year with the program. Francois appeared to struggle in Taggart’s offense, completing just 57.1 percent of his passes for 2,719 yards, 15 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

Now the quarterback will get to work with offensive coordinator Kendal Briles, who joined Taggart’s staff after guiding Houston’s high-flying offense last season.

It’s unclear if Francois will ever return to the heights of his sensational freshman season, but his return to Florida State certainly makes things a bit more interesting in the ACC and for rival Florida.
