Despite receiving a scare in Nashville last week, Tennessee holds on to the top spot in the latest AP college basketball poll. The Vols rebounded very well from the team’s 88-83 overtime win at Vanderbilt to pound West Virginia 83-66 at home over the weekend.

This Tennessee team has not lost in a two-month span, dating back to the lone loss of the season which was an 87-81 defeat to No. 11 Kansas. The Volunteers next game is Tuesday at South Carolina.

Not far behind the Vols in the new AP poll is Kentucky at No. 7, which defended its home court over the weekend by beating Kansas 71-63 in Lexington. The Wildcats are now 16-3 on the season and have won six in a row and nine of 10 games. Kentucky’s next game is at Vanderbilt on Tuesday.

LSU was one of the biggest risers in the poll this week, jumping up six spots to No. 19. The Tigers have won nine games in a row and currently sit at 16-3 overall and have yet to lose a conference game. LSU travels to Texas A&M on Wednesday.

Mississippi State is the final SEC team ranked this week by the AP, as the Bulldogs come in at No. 22 nationally. MSU is 15-4 on the season and beat Auburn but lost at Kentucky last week.

Auburn and Ole Miss both are found in the others receiving votes category this week.
