FOX analyst Joel Klatt proposes change to the way the Playoff committee narrows down teams
The selection process for the College Football Playoff has been a topic of debate for a number of years now.
Who should get in? Should they have to win their conference? Should undefeated Group of 5 teams like UCF last year get in? Should it expand to 8 teams?
There are a ton of questions and not many answers. However, on Saturday, FOX analyst Joel Klatt came up with a solution.
Klatt proposes creating a pool of eligible teams at the end of the season and picking the four Playoff teams from there:
1. Power 5 Conference Champions
2. Notre Dame if they have 11+ wins
3. Undefeated Group of 5 Champions (if they have a Power 5 win)@joelklatt proposes a change to the CFP selection committee criteria to narrow down eligible teams ⬇️ pic.twitter.com/vxszTTEum4— FOX College Football (@CFBONFOX) November 2, 2019
This would be an interesting idea, but as we know, it’s not always the case that the best team wins the conference title. Still, this might be a solution that makes more schools (but probably not everyone) happy.
