SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic shares takeaways following Week 10 action
Cole Cubelic has released his weekly takeaways, as week 10 of the college football season is in the rear view mirror. And, as you might imagine, the SEC Network analyst had plenty on his mind.
Of course, Florida’s loss to South Carolina was a main talking point, with Cubelic calling it “indescribable” and noting that he felt there were “no guarantees” for Dan Mullen and his staff returning in 2022.
He also tipped his hat to Arkansas, who clinched bowl eligibility for the first time since 2016. He was especially impressed with “all-everything” Treylon Burks as well as John Ridgeway.
Cubelic also made note of Alabama, who struggled to beat LSU on Saturday. He spotlighted its offensive line and how the Tide’s front 5 is “easy to attack”. As for the Tigers, he had praise for linebacker Damone Clark, defensive lineman Neil Farrell, running back Tyrion Davis-Price, and offensive lineman Austin Deculus.
Here are all of Cubelic’s takeaways:
We do it each week, My Sunday SEC takeaways:
ALABAMA: They are a screen/RPO team, side effects showing up when that's not on all cylinders. Easy to attack the OL, most of it they earned. But plenty of let downs outside that group as well. 31 is unstoppable when they move him.

ARKANSAS: Going bowling! Lot of grit finishing that one. OL took over late. Big boy ball down the stretch. 16 is just all everything. So valuable & love how Briles uses him. 99 played great. Held down both A gaps in the run game regularly. D closed space quickly, that was key!

AUBURN: Plan was solid. Had seams & shot plays open. 65 did some nice things when he hit in. Turnovers too much to overcome in that environment vs that def. Needed a little more up front, DL wasn't problematic enough. 29 played his ass off! RB fundamentals say a lot about PT.

FLORIDA: Indescribable. That SC run game has gone like that since 2020. Effort wasn't there. Focus wasn't there. No push from OL. Couldn't throw themselves into better run looks. Have to start asking some serious questions. No guarantees rest of this yr after seeing that.

GEORGIA: Impressive number of guys involved on off. Mailman super efficient. Has to stay calculated. 41 seems the guy not getting enough credit on defense & LOTS of guys deserve all they get on that side of the ball. They just squeeze the life out of you. Handled distractions.

KENTUCKY: Brutal loss. Can't complain about the plan on off. Drop off in tackling this yr is alarming. Last 2 matchups been tough on personnel but have to adjust. QB tough as nails. OL had it going early. Played their opponents game. Some tough breaks late but had opportunities.

LSU: 92 made money. 18 made some money. Impressed with the effort. 3 super impressive. Thought LG had some great reps. 76 had one of his better games. Questionable matchups up front allowed negative plays. QB has to get the ball out. Had plenty of opportunities in pass game.

MISSISSIPPI STATE: Slow start but found it in 2nd half. Rogers is for real. The poise is off the charts. Tried to stay balanced again. Kicking game let them down. Cut backs hurt in run game. Def looked gassed late. OL was solid. Flags were killer. Weirdest team in CFB.

MISSOURI: Obviously were going out of their way to slow the run. Tough to defend shot plays that way. Good plan for inexperience at QB but lack of explosives prevented momentum. Kicking game solid. 33 flashed on defense. OL struggled. Need run game & it wasn't there. 86 helped.

OLE MISS: Really nice win with lots of potential distractions. Efficient day by Corral who's just not 100%. Lack of him running changes the dynamic. Cool yo see 10 have a big day! Ealy is just big time, so underrated. Big TO day for the defense limited Willis. 33 & 7 big off edge

SOUTH CAROLINA: Aggressive right out the gate! RB's ran like hair was on fire. Formations & motions really helped creat space. Brown really just gives them the best mix of movement & accuracy IMO. Just needed things to slow down. DBs challenged most throws. DL disrupted. HUGE W

TENNESSEE: Brilliant usage of the width of the field. Onslaught on the perimeter. The OL strain is super impressive. Gap schemes were WORKING! 5 has great feel for scheme. DL wasn't bad. Tackling was an issue. Confusion in coverage. Massive W. Way ahead of schedule. Huge one next

TEXAS A&M: Solid plan on mixing stunts & pressures up front. DL disrupted. Edges were solid. OL had a really good night. Great protection on majority of drops. Drops have to be cleaned up. Need more pistol! 85 big on so many ways in this game.
