The nation’s top overall prospect in 5-star cornerback Travis Hunter shocked the college football recruiting world Wednesday. Hunter, from Collins Hill, Georgia, flipped his commitment on signing day and inked with Deion Sanders and Jackson State over Florida State. He had been committed to FSU since March 3, 2020.

Everyone is being asked about Hunter’s decision, too, and the latest is Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin. The Rebels coach chimed in on the free agency of college football.

“You’re in free agency that, there are no contracts,” said Kiffin, via Michael Katz of the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal. “I really hope for these kids, they get all the money that they’re being promised at all these schools when they get there.

“Because there’s a lot of money being promised, so I hope for them that they get it. … These guys get promised all this money to come places, but they don’t have a contract, which in free agency obviously you would (like) in the NFL, know that you were guaranteed to get paid what you’re being told you’re going to get paid.”

Does Kiffin know something that others don’t know?

Hunter’s signing with Jackson State was announced with an electric hype video.
