Kirk Herbstreit getting called out for ESPN broadcast of Alabama vs. Georgia
Kirk Herbstreit is on the call with Chris Fowler for the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship Game on ESPN as Alabama faces off against Georgia.
Herbstreit certainly has his fans in the college football world, and he and Fowler have had a front seat to the sport’s biggest moments over the years. Along with his position at the “College GameDay” desk for over a quarter of a century, he has teamed with Fowler to make up ESPN’s lead college football commentary team.
However, Herbstreit has plenty of detractors on social media. His comments in late December about players sitting out bowl games garnered its share of negative reaction.
On Monday, he received more criticism from viewers who felt that his analysis was unfairly biased toward Alabama. And, with Jameson Williams’ unfortunately leg injury that saw him exit the game, fans were quick to remind him of his thoughts from a few weeks back.
Take a look at some of the social media reaction below:
@KirkHerbstreit is sounding about as bad as Gary Danielson right now

Paitently waiting for @KirkHerbstreit to say #JamesonWilliams doesn't love the game of football because he's not sucking up his clearly blown out knee to continue playing in the #nationalchampionship . Kids today just don't care about the game and their teammates… right Kirky?
