We gather here today in remembrance of “The Dab.”

Born in Atlanta, it rose in prominence thanks to several popular music videos including, “Look at my Dab” by Migos and “How Fast Can You Count It” by Skippa Da Flippa.

The Dab reached new heights when reigning NFL MVP and Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton made it his official touchdown dance. Newton, a former star at Auburn, dabbed his way to the Super Bowl and his celebration became a phenomenon.

Sadly, the Dab was killed on Saturday Sept. 3, 2016. It was beaten into submission by a pair of Auburn fans, who refused to relent amidst pleas for mercy.

R.I.P, Dab. We hardly knew you.
