There were two big takeaways from Saturday’s Week 4 slate of SEC action.

First and foremost, Alabama is still the top dog in the conference (and the country) after a huge 59-0 drubbing of Vanderbilt in Nashville.

Second, Auburn is the de-facto second-best team in the SEC West after a big win on the road at Mizzou.

On Monday morning, ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum joined “The Opening Drive” to talk about the Crimson Tide and the Tigers, starting off by saying he doesn’t think anyone can touch Bama this year until the College Football Playoff starts:

However, Alabama’s toughest test may come in the Iron Bowl against Gus Malzahn’s Auburn squad. Finebaum said he thinks the Tigers will take another step in the right direction at home this weekend against Mississippi State:

If both teams stay on track, the annual Iron Bowl game should be a huge affair, with Auburn hosting the game at Jordan-Hare Stadium this year.

Of course, it’s too early to start looking ahead to that game just yet, as both teams still have several tough games to go.
