The regular season has come to a close for almost every SEC team (South Carolina has a makeup game Saturday). With Week 13 in the books, the SEC league office has announced its selections for the conference’s Players of the Week (offensive, defensive, special teams, freshman, offensive line and defensive line).

Here are this week’s honorees:

Co-Offensive Player of the Week – Kyle Shurmur, QB, Vanderbilt

  • Shurmur broke his own Vanderbilt completion percentage record by completing 31-of-35 passes (88.6 percent) for a season-high 367 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Commodores to bowl eligibility with an impressive 38-13 victory over cross-state rival Tennessee.
  • He completed his first 15 passes, including a 17-yard touchdown to tight end Jared Pinkney, to help the Commodores to a 17-0 halftime advantage. In the fourth quarter, Shurmur sealed the win with touchdowns to wide receiver Amir Abdur-Rahman and tight end Cody Markel.
  • Shurmur becomes the first Vanderbilt quarterback to notch three victories over Tennessee since Oliver Kuhn in the 1920s. In four career starts against UT, Shurmur is 87 of 134 (64.9%) for 1,275 yards and 12 touchdowns.
  • In the last four games, all against SEC opponents, Shurmur is 90-of-123 (73.2%) for 999 yards, 11 touchdowns and just one interception.
  • The victory was Vanderbilt’s third straight against Tennessee, the team’s first three-game winning streak in the series since the 1926 season.

Co-Offensive Player of the Week – Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama

  • The sophomore quarterback accounted for 350 yards of total offense against the nation’s No. 10 scoring defense in the Iron Bowl.
  • Accounted for a school-record six touchdowns, tying the team mark for passing touchdowns with five and adding one more on the ground.
  • Completed 25-of-32 passes (78.1%) for 324 yards while rushing for 26 yards on four carries.

  • Completed six passes of 20 yards or more, including strikes of 46, 40, 33, 22, 21 and 20 yards.
  • Set a school record with his fifth 300-yard passing game of the season.

Co-Defensive Player of the Week – Jordan Elliott, DT, Missouri

  • It’s rare for an interior defensive tackle to impact a game, but that’s exactly what Elliott did Friday, as he was a virtual one-man wrecking crew for the Tiger defense as it pitched its first SEC shutout in program history, with a 38-0 win over Arkansas. Impacted the game all day long, and ended with 5 tackles, with a career-high 4.0 tackles for loss (32 yards), including a career-high 3.0 QB sacks.
  • His 2nd-quarter blind-side QB sack jarred the ball loose and ended in a fumble return touchdown for the Tiger defense which made the score 21-0 with 12:33 left in the half.
  • Entered the game with no QB sacks on the year, and 4.0 tackles for loss in 11 games, meaning he doubled his season total for TFLs while notching the first sacks of his Tiger career.
  • Mizzou’s defensive effort was stout all day long against Arkansas, as MU held the Razorbacks to 187 yards of total offense and zero points, while Arkansas came into the game averaging 349.2 yards of total offense and 23.6 points per game.
  • The shutout was Mizzou’s first against an FBS Power Five opponent since 2010 – a 14-0 win on Nov. 20th that season at Iowa State. It was Mizzou’s largest shutout win against an FBS opponent since 2008 – a 58-0 win at home on Oct. 25th that season against Colorado.
  • Arkansas’ minus 21 yards rushing in the first half was the lowest first-half rushing total by any FBS team to that point in 2018. The Razorbacks would end with just 52 yards rushing (1.3 avg.), after coming in averaging 151.7 yards per game (4.2 avg.).

Co-Defensive Player of the Week – Devin White, LB, LSU

  • Set a career-high with 17 tackles, including four tackles for loss, in LSU’s 7-overtime game against Texas A&M.
  • Added a sack for a 12-yard loss and forced a fumble that resulted in a 58-yard return for a TD by Michael Divinity that tied the game at 24-24 in the fourth quarter.
  • Tackles for loss accounted 21-yards in losses by the Aggies.
  • Went over the 100-tackle mark for the second straight year.

Special Teams Player of the Week – Braden Mann, P/KOS, Texas A&M

  • Punted five times for an average of 53.2 with a long of 59 yards and killed one punt inside the 20-yard line.
  • Mann is on pace to break the NCAA season average record held by LSU’s Chad Kessler in 1997 at 50.28. Mann after the game is averaging 51.1 per punt.
  • Against LSU, four of his five punts went over 50 yards giving him 26 of his 47 punts going for 50+ yards.
  • Mann has already established a new NCAA record with 14 punts of 60 yards or longer breaking the old NCAA mark of 13 held by Ryan Plackemeier of Wake Forest in 2005.

Freshman of the Week – C.J. Bolar, WR, Vanderbilt

  • Bolar posted a single-game career high with 93 receiving yards on six catches, helping the Commodores reach bowl eligibility with an impressive 38-13 victory over cross-state rival Tennessee.
  • Five of Bolar’s six receptions from quarterback Kyle Shurmur, including a team-long 41-yard catch, resulted in Commodore first downs.
  • Bolar’s 31 receptions is tied for the fifth-most ever by a Commodore freshman.
  • The victory was Vanderbilt’s third straight against Tennessee. It’s the Commodores’ first three-game winning streak in the series since the mid-1920s.

Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week – Erik McCoy, C, Texas A&M

  • Handled protection calls and assignment blocks as Texas A&M gained 234 yards on the ground against LSU and pass protection only allowed two sacks on the night with a total of 51 pass attempts.

Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week – Elgton Jenkins, C, Mississippi State

  • Jenkins, who claimed the Kent Hull Trophy last week as the top offensive lineman in the state of Mississippi, was the Bulldogs’ top offensive line grader in a 35-3 win at Ole Miss.
  • Jenkins collected two knockdowns, did not allow a sack or a pressure. He paved the way for a Bulldog rushing attack that pounded out 309 yards on the ground.
  • State finished with 420 yards of total offense, its highest output in a conference game this season.
