With another week of college football in the books, bowl projections everywhere have been updated.

CBS Sports bowl expert Jerry Palm recently updated his bowl projections following the Week 9 action. He currently has nine SEC teams heading to a bowl game, led by a postseason rematch between division rivals:

  • Alabama: Peach Bowl vs. LSU (CFP semifinal)
  • Auburn: Citrus Bowl vs. Wisconsin
  • Florida: Orange Bowl vs. Wake Forest (New Year’s Six)
  • Georgia: Sugar Bowl vs. Oklahoma (New Year’s Six)
  • Kentucky: Liberty Bowl vs. TCU
  • LSU: Peach Bowl vs. Alabama (CFP semifinal)
  • Mississippi State: Gator Bowl vs. Michigan
  • Missouri: Music City Bowl vs. Virginia
  • Texas A&M: Outback Bowl vs. Minnesota

Palm has taken South Carolina out of his bowl projections after the Gamecocks fell 41-21 to Tennessee. Instead of projecting the Volunteers in South Carolina’s place, Palm simply trimmed his projections from 10 SEC teams to nine. Palm currently projects that the SEC will not send a team to three affiliated postseason games (Birmingham Bowl, Texas Bowl, Belk Bowl). In addition to UT and South Carolina, Palm is also not projecting a bowl game for Arkansas, Ole Miss or Vanderbilt.

Unlike many of his peers, Palm continues to project Missouri to go bowling, even though the team is currently under a postseason ban, which MU has appealed. The Tigers can participate in the postseason while the ban is in the appeal stage, but the appeal dragging out past the SEC Championship Game seems unlikely. The NCAA has not yet informed Mizzou of a final decision on the matter.
