We may be months away from the start of the 2020 college football season but that has not stopped ESPN from releasing the first edition of the Football Power Index rankings for the coming season.

ESPN’s first look at the 2020 Football Power Index rankings lists seven SEC teams among the top 25 in the nation and 12 in the top 53.

At first glance, a few things jump out regarding these rankings. Alabama is not listed in the top 3, which is a surprise. Texas A&M, coming off a 5-loss season is ranked No. 8 overall. Not including Florida in the top 10 is also something that stands out. Meanwhile, the defending national champions are listed all the way down at No. 12.

Here’s how each SEC team currently ranks in ESPN’s preseason Football Power Index:

#4 Alabama (11-2 record last season)

#8 Texas A&M (8-5)

#10 Georgia (12-2)

#11 Florida (11-2)
