Derek Mason once again has a full coaching staff in Nashville.

The Commodores had an open spot on Mason’s full-time coaching staff after receivers coach Aaron Moorehead left the program after landing a coaching position on the Philadelphia Eagles coaching staff this offseason.

That spot has now been filled, however, as veteran Southeastern Conference coach Tony Ball has been hired to coach receivers for Mason’s program. Ball spent last season as passing game coordinator and receivers coach at UTSA. Before coaching at UTSA, Ball served as running backs coach at Louisiana Tech under offensive coordinator Todd Fitch, who, of course, was hired by Mason to be the new Vanderbilt offensive coordinator this offseason.

Ball previously coached receivers at LSU under Les Miles and at Georgia under Mark Richt. Ball also served eight seasons as receivers coach at Virginia Tech under Frank Beamer.

“Tony Ball is a quality man who brings a wealth of experience and coaching success to our staff. We’ve attracted one of the nation’s top receivers coaches in Tony,” Mason said in a released statement. “Tony has been part of several successful programs, including Georgia, LSU and Virginia Tech. With Tony, we are getting a coach with a long track record of bringing the best out in his student-athletes.”
