SEC commissioner Greg Sankey weighs in on plans for SEC Media Days
On Wednesday, the Mountain West Conference announced it would be canceling its in-person Media Days scheduled for July 16-17 and instead hold virtual media days.
That prompted some to wonder if the SEC and other major conferences would soon follow suit.
On “The Paul Finebaum Show” on Wednesday, SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said the conference is still planning to host in-person media days (in Atlanta), but nothing is certain at the moment:
“The next event on our schedule is football media days. We’re still intent on moving forward with that, but we also know we may have to adjust.”

.@GregSankey says one factor regarding SEC Media Days will be whether or not the season is scheduled to start on time. "What we want to do is to provide some momentum going into the season. We’d like to do that in person, but we don’t know right now if we can do that."

Obviously, a lot has to change if in-person events like Media Days are going to take place this summer.
We’ll likely find out over the next month or so if other conferences decide to follow in the Mountain West’s footsteps and host virtual media days.
