Tom Herman’s future at Texas got much cloudier Saturday following Texas’ 23-20 loss to Iowa State. The loss basically eliminated the Longhorns from conference championship contention, and the cries for Herman’s firing became louder.

Herman is now 30-18 overall at Texas in just under 4 seasons. Will he get things turned around? Will he even get that opportunity?

The Texas head coach was asked about his future following the loss to the Cyclones.

“That’s not for me to decide,” Herman said during his postgame press conference. “I feel like where we have the program right now compared to where it was when we took over, the future is very bright. We’ve won a lot of big games in our time here. (Texas) didn’t win the conference championship two years ago when we made the game, played for an opportunity to go to that game today and lost in the last couple of minutes. But I feel great about the trajectory of our program and where we’re headed, and the things that are on the horizon.”

Texas’ 2 remaining games are very winnable against Kansas State (12/5) and Kansas (12/12), but the Longhorns administration will likely decide his coaching fate before then.
