With only a couple of weeks left before the College Football Playoff field is announced, the Heisman Trophy race is heating up.

Many analysts have Alabama QB Mac Jones and Florida QB Kyle Trask in the top 2 positions on their lists in some order.

So, who has the edge? SEC Network analyst Paul Finebaum said on Sunday morning’s SportsCenter that he’d give the edge to Trask at the moment:

“It’s really tough,” Finebaum said. “Right now, I’m going to give Kyle Trask a hairline edge — I mean narrow — over Mac Jones. One of the problems for Mac Jones is DeVonta Smith — his great wide receiver, but Kyle Trask … he didn’t play his best game yesterday against Tennessee — still 4 touchdowns. It was almost pedestrian. That’s how good he is when he is in rhythm.

“But don’t forget, 2 weeks from last night, he’ll get his chance against Alabama and Mac Jones. It’s a big game and a win there, he might have the Heisman in his trophy case.”

Jones is working with a talented receiver in Smith and perhaps the nation’s best running back in Najee Harris. But, Trask has plenty of help, too, working with the top tight end in the nation in Kyle Pitts.

With only a couple of games left to go before the Heisman ceremony for each quarterback, it’ll be interesting to see who closes the season on a high note.
