The Vanderbilt Commodores had a bit of a quarterback battle this offseason between incumbent starter Ken Seals and backup Mike Wright.

With Clark Lea taking over as the program’s new head coach, he wanted to give both players a fair shot at the job.

On Tuesday, though, he revealed that Seals would retain the starting role. But, like last year, Wright will also get playing time:

In 9 games in 2020, Seals threw for 1,928 yards, 12 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Wright threw for 1 touchdown, 1 interception and added 1 score as a runner.

We’ll see if each player is able to take a step forward this year in Lea’s debut season as a head coach.
