Sleeper Fantasy is always innovating when it comes to DFS picks contests. Now, one of the best and fastest-growing DFS apps on the market today is coming out with a new style of play.

Users can now make “alt” picks. If Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry is projected to score higher or lower than 25.5 points in a given game, you are still welcome to make your picks with that projection. But, if you feel Curry is about to have a vintage Steph Curry game, you could use the new “alt picks” option and pick Curry to have 40+ points if you so choose.

Obviously, if you pick Curry to have 40+ points, your multiplier for that pick will reflect your bold prediction.

To celebrate the launch of this new feature, Sleeper is offering everyone who uses the app a free square for Wednesday night’s NBA slate.

All Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum has to do tonight against the Oklahoma City Thunder is score at least 1 point and you’ll win that leg of your contest! Considering Tatum is one of the top scorers in the NBA, that’s a no-brainer.

How Do Alt Picks Work?

Basically, you get to choose if you think players are going to outperform their projections or underperform. Here’s what it looks like on the Sleeper app for Jaylen Brown’s projected points against the Thunder:

As you can see, not many people believe Brown will go for 35+ points on Wednesday night, but if he does, that lone believer will be rewarded handsomely with a 6.87x multiplier. Of course, Brown is a virtual lock to score at least 15 points, so that’s only worth a 1.04x multiplier.

My Picks for Celtics vs. Thunder

Jayson Tatum higher than 0.5 points

As mentioned earlier, this is a no-brainer pick. Tatum is an elite scorer. Even if the Thunder limit him to below his season average, he’ll almost certainly score at least 1 point. The Thunder don’t have a ton of wing defenders they can throw at Tatum to match his size, so this could be a big night for the Boston star.

Jrue Holiday higher than 9.5 rebounds+assists

With Shai Gilgeous-Alexander out for the Thunder, along with sidekick Jalen Williams, OKC is depleted in the backcourt. Guys with less experience will have to step up in their place, which means a savvy veteran like Holiday should shine. Holiday will be the steady hand the Boston offense needs, and he’ll rack up 10+ rebounds+assists in this matchup.

Chet Holmgren to score 20+ points

As mentioned earlier, SGA and Jalen Williams are out tonight for OKC. Someone is going to have to score for the Thunder, and that someone will be Holmgren. To celebrate the launch of Sleeper’s “alt” picks, let’s take the rookie big man to score 20+ points, which gives us a cool 2.29x multiplier.

If you put all 3 of those picks together, it adds up to a 7.57x multiplier, meaning if all 3 selections are correct, you can turn a $5 entry into $37.85:

However many picks you decide to make, be sure to get them in before tipoff, which is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. While the Thunder aren’t at full-strength for this matchup, it should still provide plenty of excitement, especially for DFS players.
