Saturday was an unimportant important day for the 2016 recruiting class.

August 1 was the first day the 2016’s class of prospects could receive written offers from universities. Yes, many prospects have verbally committed to programs, but they haven’t received anything written until Saturday.

Four-star wide receiver (and brother of current Alabama receiver Calvin Ridley) Cavin Ridley showed off his official offer from Alabama via Twitter. Ridley is the No. 31 ranked player in the state of Florida (Deerfield Beach) and the country’s No. 38 overall receiver, according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings. Cavin remains one of the most sought after uncommitted prospects of the recruiting cycle.

Ridley’s official offer letter from Alabama reads the following:

Dear Cavin

This letter identifies you as a Top Prospect for Alabama Football’s 2016 Recruiting Class. Because new NCAA legislation prohibits us from providing written offers of aid until August 1, 2015, I now wanted to confirm to you in writing my offer of an athletic scholarship to the University of Alabama.

I want to emphasize that our staff feels you are not only an outstanding football player, but we think you are the type of student-athlete who has the ability to make an immediate and significant impact on our team.

Your scholarship will be effective upon enrollment in 2016 and will continue until your eligibility is exhausted, subject to scholarship limitation, NCAA and SEC rules and regulations. Your scholarship will include the cost of your tuition, fees, books, supplies, room and board, and miscellaneous and travel expenses.

Cavin, we would like to help you continue your development as a person, a student and as a football player. We believe that everyone who plays for the Crimson Tide will be more successful in life because they were involved in this program. You will find that the facilities and support systems we have in place to help our players succeed on and off the field are second to none.

Mario Cristobal, our staff and I are looking forward to continuing to develop a relationship with you and your family. This is an exciting time for Crimson Tide Football and we want you to be a part of it.

Roll Tide,

Nick Saban
