Tuesday’s presidential election took the entire world by storm.

All eyes were on the United States as the votes came in between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. The energy, passion, and anxiety emanating from the spectacle was truly palpable.

You’d be hard-pressed to find individuals not paying attention to this entity on Tuesday. However, one of those people were Alabama head coach Nick Saban:

“To be honest with you, I didn’t even know yesterday was Election Day. It was so important to me that I didn’t even know it was happening.We’re focused on other things here. I don’t really make political comments. So if I say I like one person, that means that everybody that voted for the other person doesn’t like me. So, why would I do that?”

There’s something to be said for keeping the proverbial nose to the grindstone. Saban — while not actively participating in the political realm — can point to the fact that his energy spent towards the football program has resulted in four National Titles and 109 wins over a 10-year span.

Saban finished with these final thoughts on the general election:

“I want what’s best for our country. I am not sure I can figure that out. I want what’s best for people who want to improve the quality of their life and I hope whoever our leader is he will certainly do all that he can do to make our country safe, and improve the quality of life for the people that we have in our country and I don’t think I’m qualified to determine who that should be.
