Alabama roared to No. 1 in the country down the stretch of the season, ripping off tight wins and blowouts alike. Amidst the Crimson Tide’s 12 wins, we singled out the five top moments in a season filled with highlights.

5. Amari Cooper’s leaping touchdown over Vernon Hargreaves

Cooper has an endless highlight reel from 2014, with well over 100 grabs, 1,600 yards and 14 touchdowns. This catch over Florida’s star cornerback was an early example of just how dominant Cooper was all year. Matched up with one of the best and most athletic corners in the country, Cooper went up high and ripped the ball down, sending Hargreaves flying to the ground in the process.

4. Lane Kiffin calls his shot in back-to-back games

Same play, different player, same results. Against Auburn, Kiffin dialed up a play that sprung Amari Cooper streaking free down the seam in the third quarter. A week later in the SEC Championship, Kiffin got a score on the same route, replacing Cooper with DeAndrew White, who was just as wide open to break open Alabama’s win over Missouri. The best part: on both plays, Kiffin knew just how good his play design was, throwing his hands up to signal a touchdown just as the ball took flight.

3. Reuben Foster’s hit on Leonard Fournette

Not only did Foster blast Fournette into 2015 with this hit, he changed the complexion of the game. Alabama had just marched down the field to hit a game-tying field goal, but LSU had been dominating the fourth quarter before that. After Foster rocked Fournette’s world, the entire LSU team seemed shook up. Alabama scored a touchdown on its first overtime possession, while LSU threw four straight incomplete passes. Foster’s hit resonated the next week, as Fournette was a non-factor in LSU’s shutout loss to Arkansas.

4. Landon Collins’ interception against Arkansas

Not only did Collins show off ball skills and route running as good as any receiver, he helped save Alabama’s season in the process. A week after Alabama dropped a game on the road against Ole Miss, the Crimson Tide were locked in a tight battle with Arkansas. The Razorbacks were driving with a chance to win the game when Collins snatched Brandon Allen’s pass out of the air. Alabama’s sideline erupted, helping to catapult Alabama into full gear down the stretch.

1. Blake Sims’ touchdown run against Texas A&M

If you need any example of how Sims changed the game for Alabama, this highlight-reel run is just one example. Sims showed off nifty footwork that no Alabama quarterback in recent history has had, and turned on the jets to finish off this ridiculous run.
