Alabama offensive analyst Keary Colbert is leaving the Crimson Tide to join Clay Helton’s staff at USC in the same capacity, according to a report from Sports Illustrated’s Thayer Evans.

It is a homecoming  of sorts for Colbert, who played wide receiver at USC from 2000-03 and won a national championship as a senior captain there in 2003. He left school after the 2003 season with the most catches in program history (207), but has since been passed by Robert Woods, Marqise Lee and Dwayne Jarrett on the list.

Colbert had been with the Crimson Tide since 2014, the same year that former USC coach Lane Kiffin took the offensive coordinator post at Alabama.

He came to Alabama after spending the 2013 season as the wide receivers coach at Georgia State, which followed an NFL career that spanned portions of seasons from 2004-11.
